TEOL: Extension of the Lyon Express Tramway
Quand l’architecture devient partition
For the extension of Lyon’s T2 Tramway Express line, BOA developed a metropolitan-scale lighting strategy spanning 6 km, in collaboration with three teams of architects, urban designers and landscape architects, as well as engineering consultants and local authorities. This collaborative process ensured a coherent vision across the entire route while revealing the unique character of each urban sequence. BOA conceived a narrative luminous signature and a kinetic light materiality that accompanies the movement of the tramway. Stations, entrances, crossings and public spaces become the support for a sensitive lighting signal that animates the night-time landscape and engages with passengers. Envisioned as a continuous luminous landscape, the line establishes a distinctive nocturnal identity, transforming transport infrastructure into a shared urban experience.
