When night falls, the maintenance sites offer a glimpse of their activity, with a great deal of transparency. Functional light spreads seamlessly from interior to exterior spaces, accentuating the notion of transparency. This light, necessary for night-time use, bears witness to the life of the site, as it is gradually switched on and off. The pulsing life of the site is brought to life by the comings and goings of the automatic metro trains, whose illuminated interiors turn them into convoys of luminous lanterns.

Movement of trains, maintenance activities, public visits and movement on the nearby freeway. Allegorically charged with all this energy, the roof-sheds become sculptures in motion at nightfall, while the lantern buildings mark their iconic character in color. Like a great marine “railway” with slow, powerful breaths, the whole site vibrates with a shiver of light.
