MUSEE DU QUAI BRANLY - JACQUES CHIRAC

L'Ô

A lake of lights brings the gardens of the Musée du quai Branly to life. A thousand and two hundred light tubes allow the light to evaporate out from the ground. The white hues are coloured from blue to green, symbolizing the states of water (icy white, temperate blue and tropical green).

At night, the constructed volumes remain deliberately plunged into semi-darkness, only to unveil the upside-down lake. The cantilevering underside of the grand gallery is animated with coloured concentric rings, projected from the tips of the light tubes. This breeze of light creates a universe of shamanic shadows that submerge the building, giving away the mystery of the nights inside the museum.

The visitors thereby can enjoy a space of nature at night in the heart of Paris.
